KANELORIZA

Observations

The song originates in the province of Lydia on the Western coast of Asia Minor. The meter of the piece in the first verse of each stanza is 9/8 (2-3-2-2), while in the second verse it changes and becomes 7/8 (3-4).
It is danced to the steps of the “MIKRASATIKOS ANTIKRISTOS” and belongs melodically to the Sabah mode. The song exists in several variations. We find it in Thrace as well as in Crete with different lyrics.
